RESUME
about Agata
Originally from Wroclaw, Poland, Agata Pacia is a senior studying Sound Design at The Theatre School at DePaul University. She started her journey with theatre at a young age of 7 when she performed with a Polish community theatre at the Copernicus Center in Chicago.
In the later years, Agata was introduced to music and it quickly became an essential part of her life. She played the clarinet in middle school and high school and went on to be section leader and drum major of the Maine East Blue Regiment at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL.
High school was also the time when Agata discovered technical theatre. She began doing sound for plays and musicals since freshman year and quickly realized that this was something that she could pursue as a career. After 4 years of hard work and many college applications, she found her at The Theatre School at DePaul University getting a BFA in Sound Design.
Through DePaul, Agata was able to work on over 20 shows, designing 10 of them. She has had the amazing opportunity to intern with the Broadway musical The Cher Show when it had its pre-Broadway premiere at the Nederlander Theatre in Chicago. During this time, Agata had the opportunity to witness the installation of a Broadway Sound System Design, learning the ins and outs of teching a show on a very large scale, and meeting and learning from an incredible team of people.
During Summer 2019, Agata was a Production Audio Intern at the Public Theatre’s Shakespeare in the Park series. This allowed her to apply all the skills she learned in school and outside in a practical and outdoor setting.
Agata is currently an Audio Operator for NewsNation at WGN America in Chicago. NewsNation is a nightly American television news program on WGN America, which premiered nationally on September 1, 2020. Broadcast live from Chicago, the three-hour-long program utilizes the journalistic resources of the 110 television news operations throughout the United States that are operated under WGN America corporate parent Nexstar Media Group.
